چکیده

Past studies show that until now the Random Vortex Method (RVM) has only been used to solve flow of Newtonian fluids. In this paper, by presenting a new approach, RVM is developed for first time with aim simulating non-Newtonian For purpose, numerical simulation two-dimensional power-law fluid in T-junction presented. The conducted Re = 50-200 at inlet channel and different indexes (n 0.2-1.4). solves Navier–Stokes equations as function determines velocity any point directly without determining mesh on geometry. Potential velocity, an initial condition analysis RVM, obtained using Schwarz–Christoffel conformal mapping. effect two parameters index Reynolds number recirculation zone investigated. Acceptable agreement among results present study existing experimental shows capability proposed method, according which can be considered powerful promising method fluids laminar turbulent regimes.

Direct Numerical Simulation of the Wake Flow Behind a Cylinder Using Random Vortex Method in Medium to High Reynolds Numbers

Direct numerical simulation of turbulent flow behind a cylinder, wake flow, using the random vortex method for an incompressible fluid in two dimensions is presented. In the random vortex method, the primary variable is vorticity of the flow field. After generation on the cylinder wall, it is followed in two fractional time step in a Lagrangian system of coordinates, namely convection and diffu...

Similarity flow solutions of a non-Newtonian power-law fluid

Abstract: In this paper we present a mathematical analysis for a steady-state laminar boundary layer flow, governed by the Ostwald-de Wael power-law model of an incompressible nonNewtonian fluid past a semi-infinite power-law stretched flat plate with uniform free stream velocity. A generalization of the usual Blasius similarity transformation is used to find similarity solutions [1]. Under app...

Entropy generation analysis of non-newtonian fluid in rotational flow

The entropy generation analysis of non-Newtonian fluid in rotational flow between two concentric cylinders is examined when the outer cylinder is fixed and the inner cylinder is revolved with a constant angular speed. The viscosity of non-Newtonian fluid is considered at the same time interdependent on temperature and shear rate. The Nahme law and Carreau equation are used to modeling dependenc...

Jeffery Hamel Flow of a non-Newtonian Fluid

This paper presents the Jeffery Hamel flow of a non-Newtonian fluid namely Casson fluid. Suitable similarity transform is applied to reduce governing nonlinear partial differential equations to a much simpler ordinary differential equation. Variation of Parameters Method (VPM) is then employed to solve resulting equation. Same problem is solved numerical by using Runge-Kutta order 4 method. A c...

Solution of the Rayleigh Problem for a Power Law Non-Newtonian Conducting Fluid via Group Method

The magnetic Rayleigh problem where a semi-infinite plate is given an impulsive motion and thereafter moves with constant velocity in a non-Newtonian power law fluid of infinite extent is studied. The solution of this highly non-linear problem is obtained by means of the transformation group theoretic approach. The one-parameter group transformation reduces the number of independent variables b...
